Chapter 37

Sunday, 4:30 pm

Gary entered the Felix Chevrolet car dealership in Downtown Los Angeles, thirty minutes away. It was closing time, but the dealership was staying open later than usual, as they had a sale on. The owner had been forced to cut twenty percent on the entire stock as high petrol prices had seen large muscle cars lose their popularity.

He stood over the new Chevrolet Camaro, his dream car. His passion for muscle cars had begun at an early age, when his mechanic father had decided to build their first car together. It was his way of bonding with his son and passing down the trade secrets. By the age of eighteen, Gary was a qualified mechanic but without the schooling.

He appreciated the fine workmanship and kneeled down to take a closer look. While low to the ground, a female salesperson approached him. He turned his head to see a long pair of legs that eventually met a short black skirt. At first glance he pigeonholed the gorgeous blond and assumed she was hired for her appearance and not for her knowledge in cars. Her name was Jessica Myers. She looked down at him as she ran her fingers along the car, as if it was her boyfriend.

‘Do you know much about Camaros?’ Jessica asked.

Gary stood up, eyeing the way she stroked the car. At that moment he wished he was the car. She was a ten on his personal gauge.

Pulling his focus away from her perfect body he said, ‘I believe this is the new 2015 Chevrolet Camaro, a 6.2-litre supercharged V8, five hundred and eighty horsepower and the color is crystal red.’ He was no dummy when it came to Camaros.

Jessica smiled and sat inside the display car. Her skirt rose as she sat, attracting his full attention. His initial impression of her was on the money, but he was not complaining.

‘Are you in the market to purchase one?’ she asked.

‘Actually, I’m looking to buy one today,’ said Gary, trying not to peek up her skirt.

‘As you can see, we have a sale on today, all you need to do is leave a deposit and your new car will be ready in as little as two weeks.’

There was a problem with that scenario. He did not want to wait two weeks, he wanted a car right now. Gary asked, ‘How about this one?’ Tapping his fingers on the roof of the demonstration car she was occupying.

She stepped out, adjusted her skirt and faced Gary. ‘I don’t think the demonstration car is for sale. Hang on, let me ask.’

After a quick discussion with her boss she came back with an answer. ‘The only way the boss would let me sell you this car, which has all the extras built into it already, is if you pay sixty thousand for it.’

Gary smiled and without any hesitation glanced into her seductive eyes, raised an eyebrow, and said in a cheesy James Bond manner, ‘Is cash okay?’

‘Yes, of course,’ smiled Jessica, touching her hair and directing him into her office to finalize the payment.
